It’s Not Unusual…

By Tricia Molloy

It’s not unusual that your biggest setbacks can be your brightest opportunities.

Did you know that international singing superstar Tom Jones, still going strong at 70, seemed destined to follow in his coal miner father’s footsteps? That is, until he was struck with tuberculosis when he was 12.

By the time he recovered two years later, his doctor said he needed to find another line of work. Jones began singing in local pubs in South Wales, cut a record–“It’s Not Unusual,” was discovered and the rest is history.

Think about your current setbacks. It might be a job loss, a slowdown in your business or a personal challenge. Now, recall a past setback and the gifts that came from it, like a new direction or fresh perspective. Be grateful for what is right now and what will be in anticipation of the success that will come from your setbacks.
